Ruth Lilly Performance Hall

A 500-seat Viennese-style hall that is part of the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center of the University of Indianapolis. Similar in features to the great concert halls of Europe and equal to any performance hall of its size in the country, every detail of the hall, from the density of the seat cushions to the 28-inch-thick hand-plastered walls (not drywalled), maximizes the acoustic performance, so that whether five persons or 500 are seated, sound fills the hall as though there is a capacity crowd. In fact the space is acoustically perfect-a whisper in any spot in the hall can be heard in any other spot.
