American Folklore Society

The American Folklore Society (AFS) is a US-based professional association for folklorists, founded in 1888 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and incorporated in Washington, D.C, as a non-profit organization in 1978. AFS has members from the United States, Canada and all over the world, encouraging research and promoting various forms of academic study and teaching of folklore.
