Spartan Manufacturing Ltd.

Vinyl pressing plant in Caerphilly, Wales operating under this name from 1980 until its closure in 1991. The plant was originally opened with four Toolex Alpha presses in July 1974 by Rediffusion Ltd. as Rediffusion Record Pressing. In 1976, the plant was acquired by Immediate Sound Services Ltd. In August 1979, Multiple Sound Distributors Ltd. purchased both ISS plants in London and Wales for $1.5m. In August 1980, both former ISS plants were sold to Spartan Records, and the Wales plant was renamed Spartan Manufacturing Ltd. Records pressed by Spartan Manufacturing can be identified by an etched SW (Spartan Wales) in the runouts.
