Regal Records (2)
Настоящее имя: Regal Records (2)
USA pop and jazz label, based in Linden, New Jersey.
** For (unofficial) releases, see label: Regal Records (8).
It was founded in 1949 by David and Jules Braun, together with Fred Mendelsohn. It had considerable success. In 1950 Regal started distributing records of 'Royal Roost', a New York jazz label. Later that year, it obtained masters of the Detroit based 'Sensation' label.
In 1951 Regal started a country label called RFD Records (3), which was also discontinued again the same year.
In November 1951 the owners announced that the label would be shut down. Many of Regal's artists moved to Okeh Records. Regal's masters were obtained by King Records, which was owned by Syd Nathan.
The Brauns returned to DeLuxe Records, a label which they founded but was now owned by Nathan.
Mendelsohn started Herald Records, together with Al Silver in 1952.
