Stereo Review
Настоящее имя: Stereo Review
Stereo Review was an American magazine, originally founded in 1958 under the name HiFi and Music Review and currently operating as Sound & Vision. It was one of the few publications dedicated to high fidelity at the time, featuring equipment and record reviews, articles about musicians, technical issues, and consumer advice. The magazine changed the name several times: first shortened to HiFi Review in 1959, and changed to HiFi / Stereo Review in 1961 to reflect the growing popularity of stereophonic technology. In 1968, the title was simplified to 'Stereo Review.'
In the late eighties, Stereo Review was acquired by CBS Magazines (now Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S.), and absorbed High Fidelity Magazine (2) in 1989. Ten years later, responding to the growing demand for home theater and AV equipment, Hachette Filipacchi bought Video magazine and merged two publications to form Stereo Review's Sound & Vision. The title was again shortened to the magazine's current name Sound & Vision in 2000.
While the magazine went through renaming and organizational changes many times, the core members of the editorial staff stayed there for decades, and this unique continuity and permanence became a prominent feature of Stereo Review. Julian Hirsch, for example, one of the technical reviewers, collaborated with the publication for nearly 40 years, starting in 1961 and retiring in 1998.
