For Bootlegs and unofficial releases please use Canterbury (4) Canterbury Records was formed in Los Angeles in November, 1966 by Mattel toy mogul Ken Handler. Signed acts included The Tempos, Lenny Roybal, Don Grady, The New Wave, The Peanut Gallery, The Donnybrook, Earth People, The Rite of Spring, and Terry Gilliam. The label's promotion director was Tom Ray, formerly of The Leaves.
