Throttle Records (2)

Throttle Records was a short-lived christian metalcore record label, based in Govan, Saskatchewan, Canada, and founded by Kevin Gales in the summer of 2007. Gales had already been operating the christian record label Torque Recording Company since 2002. Although Torque did not start out as a hardcore record label, it quickly found popularity with Northwest American, Western Canadian and Prairie Province hardcore and metalcore bands. After signing several metalcore and deathcore bands over the years, Gales decided to form a separate imprint in the summer of 2007 and transfer all of Torque Recording Company's heavier bands over to the new company. With that separation, Gales hoped to keep Torque Recording Company as a more mainstream and accessible record label. Throttle Records was officially launched with a press announcement on June 14th of 2007, with the signing of new bands The Butcher's Hand, Open Eyes Elysia and Stitched In Silence. Torque Recording Company's roster band Becoming The Martyr was the first to be transferred to Throttle Records. Throttle's first release was War Of Ages' album, followed by Becoming The Martyr, The Butcher's Hand and finally Stitched In Silence. The label's fifth and sixth-planned releases (by Open Eyes Elysia and Tears From The Sky), were delayed and eventually released directly through Torque Records in early 2008. The end of Throttle Records came in mid-November of 2007, only five months after it was launched, through the consolidation of several record labels and a distribution deal. On November 13th of 2007, it was announced that Torque Recording Company had signed an exclusive distribution deal with Victory Records for the regions of the USA, UK and Australia (starting in 2008) and Canada (starting in 2009). Through this distribution deal, an agreement was made whereas Throttle Records and With A Bullet Records (2) would consolidate back with Torque Recording Company, under the name Torque Records (2), the later of which would retain all of the signed artists' contracts and merge them into Torque Records' existing roster.
