Périscope, Lyon

French venue located in Lyon. Périscope was created in 2007 by two musician collectives (the Grolektif and the Collectif Polycarpe) and the Université Populaire de Lyon. Periscope is an alternative to the classic models of theaters. Between music laboratory and cabinet of sound curiosities, it has established itself as a place for discovery, whose artistic direction is focused on jazz and improvised music, but not only. It is also sensitive to rock culture, ambitious or experimental music and all kinds of grooves. Periscope organizes about 150 concerts a year, as well as about twenty artists' residencies but also cultural cafés with conferences, documentary screenings, poetic cabarets, workshops, a program dedicated to young audiences and cultural projects.
