Novelty Records Distributors
Настоящее имя: Novelty Records Distributors
Los Angeles, CA-based company (est. 1936) credited on the latest Hot Shots From Hollywood and, from 1937, on all Hollywood Hot Shots labels as Exclusive Sales Agents.
Owned by John Collins "Jack" McClelland (1900-1973), this company was in some way related to Novelty Record Co., the company that began releasing the Hot Shots From Hollywood label in 1936. The company produced so-called party records with risqué texts that it sold via mail order. In January 1938, U.S. Post Office inspectors arrested owner McClelland in Honolulu, charging him with two counts of sending obscene phonograph records through the mails and via express, claiming that Novelty Records Distributors was responsible for the bulk of obscene records distributed throughout the United States.
