First airing in New Zealand in 1999, “Popstars” was an international reality television franchise, the precursor to the “Idol” franchise (Pop Idol, American Idol, Canadian Idol, Indonesian Idol, etc.). Hundreds of now-known artists worldwide have appeared on or won their respective editions of Popstars. Some of these artists include: Bardot (2), Christa Borden, Bro'Sis, The Cheeky Girls, Clea, Darius (7), Eden's Crush, Girls Aloud, Hear'Say, Javine, Liberty X, Monrose, No Angels, Overground, Phixx, Scene 23, Sugar Jones and Velvet Empire.
