Meta's Musikschuppen
Настоящее имя: Meta's Musikschuppen
This live music-club started in 1960 by Meta's parents as a milk bar. Meta and her husband Klaus Dieter Rogall pushed her parents to open this popular restaurant destination in their house "Waterkant". On 1st of July 1961 Meta's took over license from her parents. After her divorse she led the club alone and era "Meta" began.
In the beginning Meta contracted mainly British bands and artists and a few years later - in the middle of the 1960s - people like Kingsize Taylor played in her club. More and more she started to contract German artists and so she became a firestarter for many later well known bands and musicians. Otto Waalkes had his first performances at Meta's. He even became a short time DJ for Meta's.
During the first years of the 1970s East Frisian songwriter Hannes Flesner was a patron there. So he got the idea to write a song for her called "Bi Meta in Norddiek". In the beginning 1990s cancer was diagnosed on Meta and a few years later she died. Since that time (1994) her son Sven directs the house.
In 2009 Werner Jürgens wrote a book (Komm, wir gehn zu Meta) about Meta and House Waterkant which led to the musical "Meta, Norddeich" with Angelika Bartsch playing Meta Rogall.
