The Beehive Lounge (1503 E 55th Street) was a renowned jazz venue in the Hyde Park district of Chicago, active until mid-to-late 1956. Its motto was "Where modern jazz comes alive".
The Beehive Lounge opened in 1948. Charlie Parker had his last Chicago performance at the Beehive Lounge. The Clifford Brown-Max Roach Quintet played here twice in 1955, from July 17 and with a six-weeker from September 29 to November 9. Gene Ammons, Cannonball Adderley , Lester Young and Dexter Gordon all played here in 1956, before the club closed.
