ESCALATION is a cultural association with different goals orbitating the immense Italian musical production conceived for the images of the several films belonging to our cinematographic production, more specifically regarding the period between the beginning of the 60’s and the end of the 70’s, two decades when both Italian music and Italian cinema lived a golden age of true artistic fervour and experimentation. The composers, supported by a skilful grounding in musical qualification and culture, where trained by feeding on jazz and classical education and, strong of this technical and cultural knowledge, they created unforgettable melodies for the cinema, breaking up and renewing the musical tradition of the time. Those were years when at all levels there was willingness and space to experiment. Singers, pianists, directors of orchestra, instrumentalists gave birth to a great number of unions and collaborations born from great affinities consolidated through time or discovered by chance during one of the many nights spent with friends, when people enjoyed playing and singing; the artists had then lots of occasions to meet and work together in a moment when they were given a great creative freedom. The object of ESCALATION is thus to preserve, reorganize and spread this important musical treasure, to be recognized as rich of ideas, of modernity, much of which still needs a care to be rediscovered and to be deeply studied.
