Afrimusik

Based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, Afrimusik was an independent recording and production company, launched in 1999 by Johann Kotze and Margueritte Reed out of the "Classix on CD" music store. The first release via their label, a compilation named "Sonvanger", appeared in its inaugural year. Active in a wide range of genres but specialising in mostly Afrikaans folk/rock, their repertoire included acts like Stefan Lombard, Spinnekop, Luna Pieterse, Gerhard Geldenhuys, the Abaqondisi Brothers, DNA Strings, Abel Kraamsaal, and Delta Blue (2). Afrimusik also handled the distribution of even smaller and unsigned projects, such as for the Tygerberg Childrens Choir. Johann Kotze sold his interests in the company in July 2002, and all that remained of the label beyond 2004 was the online shop.
