ERA (11)
Настоящее имя: ERA (11)
Argentine label. Shortened form of Era Grand Record, label created by BeKa-Record A.-G.. Licensed by Carlos Domingo Nasca from Carl Lindström A.-G., it became an independent label due to WWI.
** For the British BeKa owned label, use Era (7).
Nasca previously held a deal with Beka Rekord A.-G. for the Era Grand Record label, the company was adquired by Lindström and the license for the label continued, now rechristened Era. As with BeKa, the recordings were made in Buenos Aires and the masters pressed by the Odeon-Werke. All the records were from a matrix series 6X.XXX.
A second label, related to Era, is Disco Artigas, which also began from german pressings and moved to Leonetti's factory.
With, or without permission, Lindström reissued these records through a large series of micro labels. These include: Victoria Record, Victoria Gemini, Chantecler, Gayarre, Parlophon, Phono D'Art. It is unknown if Nasca himself was in charge of them or it's a separate company. It's also unknown what record store ("Casas" - large stores from the 00s and 10s that often held exclusivity deals with record companies) commercialized them. Some of these recording would be also pressed in Nasca's label, Disco Artigas.
After the onset of WWI, communications with Lindström were cut. Nasca kept Era as an independent label and entered a pressing deal with brazilian Fábrica De Discos Saverio Leonetti. this lasted until either 1918 or 1920, when Leonetti's factory entered a low activity period.
Shortly appearing as Disco Era, around 1914 it switched to a light blue and light red label with the artwork of a Gaucho. This led to a license or inspiration to use Casa A Electrica's logo from Disco Gaucho until roughly 1918. The records may have been commercialized in Casa América, Stahlberg & Rigotti.
The Era label design, a crosshatch of a Gaucho on his horse, was adopted by Leonetti's Disco Gaucho.
