Schildkröt-Puppen und Spielwaren GmbH with the present seat in Rauenstein / Thuringia (East Germany) is the oldest doll manufacturer, which produces dolls throughout from 1896 until today. The "turtle" as a company logo should symbolize with its hard shell of the turtle, the novel, robust material for toy dolls. Celluloid as a material was a revolution in the production of dolls because it is unbreakable, washable, colourfast and hygienic. Other plastic products, such as table tennis balls, were also produced.
