Predigerkirche, Basel
Настоящее имя: Predigerkirche, Basel
The parish church of Christ Catholic Community of Basel-Stadt is traditionally referred to as "preacher church." It bears this name because it was the church of the Dominican monastery for a long time.
The church was built from 1233 to 1237 as a monastery church of the Dominican Order. On the occasion of the renovation from 1262 to 1269 it was adapted as one of the first churches in the Upper Rhine to the style of Gothic. 1264 was the consecration of the choir by the famous Dominican Albertus Magnus, Bishop of Regensburg.
1356 Basel earthquake destroyed large parts of the Church. In Renovations in the following decades emerged frescoes depicting Mary, John the Baptist and the Dominican Vincent Ferrer. The church was actively used until 1449 during the Council of Basel in 1431 by the participants.
