PolyGram South Africa

PolyGram South Africa (often abbreviated as "PolyGram S.A.") emerged out of Teal Trutone Music in 1995. The company was 2/3 owned by PolyGram International and 1/3 by Gallo Africa, the owners of Gallo Record Company but existed a scant three years until 1998 when PolyGram themselves were bought and renamed to become part of the Universal Music Group which is now represented on the southern tip of the dark continent by Universal Music South Africa. Both have continued to use Trutone's STAR* XXXX catalogue numbering scheme.
