US label, founded in New York in 1937. Jazz became more prominent in the repertory after Albert Marx joined the company as A&R in 1944. By 1949 Musicraft had recorded more than 1000 titles, mostly jazz. Among artists recording for the company was Teddy Wilson, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Sarah Vaughn.
In the 1970s the label was revived by Albert Marx, then president of Trend (3) and Discovery. Many of these recording were reissued on the budget label Royale as 45rpm EP's & LP's. For example Duke Ellington Plays and I Don't Stand A Ghost Of A Chance
