Founded in Munich in 1946, quickly named "one of the most important" German publishers of German and foreign fiction literature due to its prominent authors (Jean Anouilh, Erich Kästner, Alberto Moravia ...), but in the course of the 1960s it fell into disrepute due to numerous legal disputes.
