Mad Doc & Family Production started in May 1999 by Delroy Harrison (Doctor Marshall). The company name was actually derived from his name. He was later joined by other members and hence the addition to the name to include the other members or "Family".
Towards the end of 1999 the Mad Doc label had one of the most popular songs in Jamaica, "UC Fargo" by Fargo Voice which went to the top five on the popular charts on the Island. "U C Fargo" was among the first set of productions released by the label on a rhythm called "Crackers". Other big name artists on the rhythm included Anthony B and Red Rat. These first set of releases were followed quickly by another set of releases on a rhythm called "Nut Cracker". Artists on this rhythm included Capleton, Garnett Silk, Sizzla and Fargo, among others.
In 2000 Mad Doc had no local releases but had a rhythm out called "Crab Claw", which had artists such as Degree, Mr. Lexx (formerly Lexus), Bugle, Kip Rich, Spectacular and Fiona on it. These were distributed worldwide, excluding Jamaica and the Caribbean, by Greensleeves Records.
2001 started with the release of "What Do You Say" by Garnett Silk; a song distributed by Greensleeves Records.
