Top 40 Music Magazine

Launched in September 1984, Top 40 Music Magazine was (South) Africa's "no. 1 music and video magazine", based in Johannesburg. While some early "birthday issues" included a free (regular commercial) 7"-single, the publication is also responsible for at least two compilations of its very own. Since then renamed to Top Forty Music Magazine and having moved office to Cape Town, the magazine went online-only in 2002 and quietly disappeared by 2005.
