Columbia Pictures Television
Настоящее имя: Columbia Pictures Television
Created in 1974 as the successor to the television division of Screen Gems. In 1982, Columbia Pictures was acquired by Coca-Cola and thus, the television arm was split from it once it was reorganized under CPT Holdings, Inc. (an in-name-only label which still exists today as a copyright holder for The Young & The Restless).
In September 1989, Coke's 49% stake in Columbia Pictures was acquired by Japanese conglomerate Sony Corporation before being fully acquired two months later. In 1991, Sony's acquisition of Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Inc. was finalized. CPE was later renamed Sony Pictures Entertainment, while CPT remained unchanged.
In the summer of 1994, CPT was merged with TriStar Television Inc. to form Columbia TriStar Television, Inc., a part of the ill-fated Columbia TriStar Television Group. On New Year's Day 2001, Columbia Pictures Television was merged with CTT to create the ill-fated Columbia TriStar Network Television, which was later replaced by Columbia TriStar Domestic Television on October 25.
As of September 2002, Columbia Pictures Television is legally known today as Sony Pictures Television. However, its in-name-only label, CPT Holdings (as mentioned above) still exists today under SPT, only to hold the copyright status for Y&R.
