Famous autonomous enclave in Copenhagen, established in 1971 as a settlement of young people wanting an alternative lifestyle and a place to live a social experiment. About 800 adult and their children live in Christiania which for nearly half a century has been both a legal issue and political struggle, as well as one of Copenhagen's major tourist attractions. The enclave is also known for its "Pusher Street" where cannabis is sold openly though not legit. Several albums have been released to support Christiania over the years, a.o. Christiania (1976) and Bevar Christiania (2004).
