Pinenut Records
Настоящее имя: Pinenut Records
Pinenut Records was set up in 2017 by New Zealand music enthusiast and DISCOGS hobbyist archivist, Donald McLeod.
The aim is to archive, document, and produce a few new vinyl albums, of selected iconic New Zealand music that the writer feels may not have got the full recognition that it deserves.
This type of music is the sort, that still sounds great no matter how many times it is played and over a period of many years, in the view of the listener.
First vinyl production was of founding 'Dunedin Sound' band, Sneaky Feelings 'Living Up To Their Name', recorded by the writer at a live gig of the band at the height of their career, in 1987.
Vinyl production of about one album per year is the current thinking.
The name Pinenut Records came from a combination of the attributes of PInenuts in relation to vinyl music.
Pinenuts are found on PIne trees all around the world. There are only certain varieties that are large enough to be edible. Pinenuts are actually seeds, have excellent health benefits when consumed, and are the most sought after and high value nuts on the market.
Sneaky Feelings is Donald's favourite band, and two songs written by band member, David Pine most stand out for him, 'Waiting For Touchdown', and P.I.T. song, both penned by David.
The other legendary Pine originated from the adjoining region, The King Country. That is the late, great Colin 'Pinetree' Meads. The archetypal Kiwi.
