Ornässtugan in Ulriksdal
A Swedish exhibition pavilion from the World Exhibition in Paris in 1867 was transported home to Sweden and became a royal summer-house two years later in Ulriksdal. The king’s personal physician Professor Edvard Edholm lived there. The remarkable building became a model for many Swedish wooden ‘villas’ in the ancient Nordic style. The house is also a memorial to king Karl XV’s interest in the Historical Romantic fashions of the time.
In 1921, Ornässtugan was rebuilt with two permanent artist's residences inside the building. Even in 2020, a grandchild, Björn Bränngård, to one of the first artists still lives there permanently. Professionally, he also runs an architectural firm at the same address.
