SAFAR (acronym for Società Anonima Fabbricazione Apparecchi Radiofonici > Anonymous Radio Equipment Manufacture) was an Italian manufacturer of electronic devices in activity from 1923 to 1948. SAFAR produced in the 30's also several Shellac 10" at 78 rpm recorded on red color at the frequency of 42 Hz, [while those on black color at 50 Hz.] contained the greatest successes of the era, between those also some sung by French actor and singer Tino Rossi, the super star of those years and the holder of the record discs sold in France (more than 300 million copies).
SAFAR was one of the largest Italian companies in the radio and in the 30's of the rising television. In the second half of the 30's produced the first cathode ray tubes and the iconoscopes for TV shooting. At the end of the war, the firm resumed its activity until 1948, year of its definitive closure.
