Rex Records (5)

US polka record label; also appears as "Rex" only. Founded by Joe and Wanda Chesky in the 1950s. Their son, Larry Chesky managed the Rex Record Company in Holyoke, MA, from the '70s until about 1990 when the company dissolved. Chesky died in 2011. From 1957 until 1972, the record label was based out of 3 Granville Street, Holyoke, MA, when it moved to the address given here. In its formative years the label existed as a handle for Al Soyka's GLO Record Company, of Somers, Connecticut, and several albums listed in the lower, earlier numbers of the Rex Catalog are duplicates from other small independent labels, including examples from Goodwill Records (2), and Dala Records.
