Ptюch
Настоящее имя: Ptюch
Ptyuch (Птюч, often stylized as Ptюch) was a cult semi-counterculture Russian magazine, published from Sep 1994 to Feb 2003 and covering an emerging rave scene and underground youth subcultures in post-USSR. The founder of the magazine, Igor Shulinsky, had just opened the Ptyuch Club in Moscow, and initially, his creative team decided to launch an eponymous publication to promote the DJs and artists who were performing there. Ptyuch magazine quickly gained prominence, and at the end it long outlived the Ptyuch nightclub (which was closed in 1997), reaching the print run of 110,000 copies at the height of its success.
Ptyuch was influenced by such publications as Dazed and Confused and Mixmag and covered experimental and electronic dance music, contemporary art, independent cinema, rave culture, alternative fashion, and lifestyle. Reporting on numerous controversial topics, from recreational drugs to body modification, Ptyuch was also notable for an experimental approach to visual identity and layout, equally inspired by flashy rave aesthetics and Russian avant-gardists Alexander Rodchenko and Kazimir Malevič.
