The Maggi wort was invented on June 8, 1886 by Julius Maggi as a cheap substitute for meat extract and is produced by the company Maggi, which belongs since 1947 to Nestlé. The Würzefabrikation in Singen (Hohentwiel, South Germany) began on 2 January 1899.
