Blue Sky Distribution

Blue Sky Distribution was formed in summer 1998 by Dan Thompson. Thompson had previously worked in video distribution after a stint as a label rep for MCA. Blue Sky Distribution was created to distribute music from local St. Louis artists to predominantly St. Louis-based stores, because stores were hesitant or unwilling to deal directly with the local artists who were generally unfamiliar with the business and logistics of music distribution. In addition to St. Louis, Blue Sky also distributed to stores in, and represented artists and labels from the Columbia, Springfield, and Kansas City areas of Missouri, as well as Central & Southern Illinois; Lawrence, KS, and Omaha-Lincoln, NE.
