North American record/media manufacturer with pressing plants in Canada. Founded in 1988 by President Lindsay Gillespie while he was a Senior VP at Attic Records. In 1992 they established Kinetic Records (2). In 1994 they established a multi-media production company for CD-ROM creation, InterActivity Inc. In 1996 established their vinyl pressing arm The Vinyl Factory (3). In 2004 they purchased a 50% interest in Canadian distributor Outside Music.
MUSIC MANUFACTURING SERVICES was part of the Firebrand Group of Companies, which had its head office in Toronto, and branch offices in Montreal and St. John's.
MUSIC MANUFACTURING SERVICES was owned by the late Ari Firestone.
Sometimes appeared as "MMS DIRECT", "MMSdirect", "MUSIC MANUFACTURING SERVICES", "WWW:MUSICMANUFACTURING.COM", "MMS DISC TN", "MUSIC MFG. SERVICES", "MUSIC MAN SERVICES" or "www.musicmanufacturing.com" on the disc matrix.
After 24 years in operation, MMS filed for bankruptcy in March 2014. Production continued under the parent company Firebrand Print & Media Solutions, which has also since dissolved after the passing of Ari Firestone in December 2015.
