Cowboy Records was created and owned by James E. Myers aka "Jimmy De Knight" and Jack Howard (3), founded in Philadelphia in 1945. There are claims that songwriter Johnny Mercer of Capitol Records was involved with the label, but little evidence exists to support this. The label is best known for releasing some of Bill Haley's first recordings.
