LAKELAND RECORDS is a music label for improvising artists from middle and eastern Germany based in Leipzig. Its geographical aspect generates from a lack of music industrial infrastructure in this regions and gives domestic artists an option to Berlin centred logistics with their releases. Founded in 2015 by drummer Daniel Klein, he realized his idea of connecting the legal capacity of an industrial partner with the creative workflow of a collective. The vision of having more possibilities in terms of marketing and networking without compromising artistic freedom is crucial to the label philosophy. Lakeland Records is a home to music influenced by free jazz, conceptualised improvisation, advanced composition techniques, unusual soundscapes and lineups.
