The Art Of Perelman–Shipp
Настоящее имя: The Art Of Perelman–Shipp
THE ART of PERELMAN-SHIPP is a collaborative album project by Brazilian tenor saxophonist Ivo Perelman and American jazz pianist Matthew Shipp, recorded and mixed at Park West Studios in Brooklyn, NYC in Oct-Nov 2006, and released by Leo Records simultaneously on seven CDs in March 2017. Perelman and Shipp have been extensively collaborating for twenty years, and produced over 30 albums together, both in duo and other ensembles. This project was recorded as a truly 'free' improvisation, since musicians had no written theme, harmonic schemes, or pre-arranged sequence of events before entering the studio. Volume 6, 9996981, features a saxophone-piano duo, while all other parts were recorded with guest musicians: quartets 9996720 with William Parker (bass) and Whit Dickey (drums) and 9996902 with Dickey and bassist Michael Bisio, plus four trios with Parker and Bisio on bass, and Bobby Kapp / Andrew Cyrille on drums.
All volumes are named after different moons of Saturn, with Ivo Perelman's paintings used as an artwork.
