Acme Record And Radio Corp.
Настоящее имя: Acme Record And Radio Corp.
U.S. record company active between 1949 - ca, 1962. Offices were located at various addresses in Columbia, KY (from 1949), Campbellsville, KY (from 1951) and Manchester, KY (from late 1950s). This company would change names and owners several times over the years. Acme Records, Inc. is one such example.
This company was chartered on January 17, 1949 by Clifford Spurlock, S. C. Bybee and W. R. Wooten. It began advertising records in autumn, 1949 and focused exclusively on country-style material. Performers initially were drawn largely from the Louisville area, many of whom were affiliated with WHAS and other local radio stations. ACME also made personal recordings.
In 1952, Spurlock reunited members of The Carter Family for a series of new recordings in Bristol, TN. The Carters allegedly never received royalties. In the same year, Acme Records (6) was consolidated with Jim Stanton's Rich-R-Tone. Under Stanton's management the company began producing 45s and LPs.
