In 1926 the French company Grosjean launches a product of processed cheese then called "La vache sérieuse" (The serious cow), its slogan was then: "The laughter is the clean of the man! The seriousness of the cow! The serious cow. It is found in serious homes."
The company lost its counterfeiting lawsuit against La Vache Qui Rit in 1955, and had to change its name in 1959.
