An independent label out of Hawthorne, CA, that changed from a traditional urban format to a house orientated one. 2001 Records was formed in 1989 and headed by Erich Dorrer. The defunct KDAY radio station gave the label it’s first radio success, that eventually led to them landing a distribution deal with Landmark Records. The Los Angeles singer Saxxy was one of the first artist to sign with the label.
