EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C.
Настоящее имя: EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C.
This is a record company, not a label. Do not credit as such.
For Spanish releases, use EMI-Odeon, S.A.
Argentinian record company and vinyl factory. EMI subsidiary. Established somewhere in late 1972, it was gradually credited all operations from Industrias Electricas Y Musicales Odeon S.A.I.C. (I.E.M.O.) and E.M.I. Suppliers (Sud América) S.A.C. e I. and continued functions until EMI's adquisition by Universal Music Group in 2012, being absorbed into Universal Music Argentina S.A.. EMI-Odeon uses a logo similar to IEMO's Odeon sublabel identifier design for most of it's generic single and EP sleeves, it is also present on some LP label prints and promotional material. It is not a logo for Odeon or for EMI. Correct logos to use these are found on the vinyl label, most commonly the boxed EMI logo alone.
Important: Copyright year in EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C. records rarely represents year of release
Records from foreign artists may be issued a year after the original, and reissues always carry the original copyright year with them. You may deduce an approximate year or possible year range by comparing label deisgn, contact info (almost always present) and changes in rights societies. Right societies first appeared in boxed logos at the very end of 1972, and COMAR became AADI-CAPIF somewhere in early 1974
Important: Early EMI-Odeon reissues of IEMO era records possesed near identical cover printing from their original versions, including labels, IEMO number and company credits with small exception of #cat and printing credit.
Credits from these covers must not be considered. Use vinyl label and insert credits whenever possible.. During the first years of it's operations, the last argentine Odeon and Odeon Pops records were released before the label was permanently shelved.
Early EMI-Odeon issues were prone to reussing printing assets and it's not uncommon to find label designs that are inacurrate or give contradicting credits. Example: Odeon's black label logo is almost universally accompanied by "Alta Fidelidad Fabricado por Industrias Eléctricas y Musicales ODEON S.A.I.C" below even when EMI-Odeon is credited on covers and date information indicates it had already replaced the company. I.E.M.O. Bs. As. and I.E.M.O. S.A.I.C. may be present credited on the same roles as EMI-Odeon. Use the latter whenever this happens.
Important: EMI Releases with the phrase "Reconstrucción Técnica Año XXXX" from 1972 and before are IEMO reissues and do no represent year of release.
They can mean it's a compilation of remastered tracks from multiple sources, usually from 40s and 50s 78RPM records or indicate the release in question is a remaster of a previous release (Chiefly turn of the 60s LPs). #cat & matrix number of the original release will be normally carried on to these reissues but neither of them are guaranteed to remain the same. Most of these releases do not indicate year of reissue, tread carefully.
Important: Do not write IEMO numbering as label or EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C. #cat
EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C. reissues reprinted IEMO era cover art with minimal changes and as a result many of these numbers are carried over. These numbers are deprecated and serve no purpose but to unwittingly indicate it's a reissue. EMI era #cat numbering follows a similar XXXX or [digits]-XXXX #cat scheme for most of the 70s which may lead to confusion.

Known and approximate dates of label design changes:
1972-1973 - Earliest design for Odeon label, purple label with globe decal artwork Ex. 1 - Boxed rights societies soon appeared - First Form / Second Form
1973-1983 - Beige & Red label print, red EMI logo covers left side of label. Ex. 1 - In early 1974 legal information is moved superimposed over the EMI logo: Ex. 2 - By late 1974, COMAR is replaced by AADI-CAPIF and contact info with "Bartolomé Mitre 760" appears Ex. 3 - Late 1975 - Adress is changed to Mendoza 1660[*] Ex. 4 - Somewhere by 1980, EMI logo and boxed right societies are moved over the printed EMI art Ex. 5
1983-???? Plain white label with red and gray print, Boxed EMI logo, adress hanges to Av. San Martín 3590
[*] The dates for adress changes are highly contradictory with many Bartolome Mitre 760 adresses appearing in copyright 1976 records. Theres's two possible hypothesii':
A. Label Print Assets being haphazardly reused, meaning a late 75 / very early 76 adress change
B. Copyrights of foreign releases representing the year they were released in their home country and not the year they were released in argentina, meaning 1975 records are actually released in 1976 and the adress changed is located someone in the first third of 1976
There's a possibility it's a combination of both.
Non EMI label deisgns are unique for each label and go through multiple redesigns across the year, not all adopt the boxed rights societies design, and not all write contact information and adress down but are generally consistent with said details..
