The Quintessence

Series of Frémeaux & Associés. It started 1994 and issued 2-CD jazz compilations. Each set is dedicated to one of the jazz greats (Armstrong, Ellington, Basie, Reinhardt, ...). The series is directed by [a327393] who usually writes liner notes (though newer releases from 2002 onward include a shorter introduction by Gerber and a longer text by a second writer). In French, with translations to English also included (though Gerber's intros are untranslated on newer releases).
