Motif Records, as a proper company, was officially co-founded by Boitumelo Molekane, better known as Tumi in 2006. The company also handled A&R, sales, marketing, promotion, and production tasks before ceasing operations some three years later due to internal conflicts. In 2011 the label was resurrected.
