J. & W. Chester Limited

Publishing company founded by Joseph & William Chester in Brighton, Surrey in the 1860s. Legally incorporated on the 9th Jan 1920. In the 1960s the company was acquired by Edition Wilhelm Hansen and from 1980s onwards formed part of the "Music Sales Group" In the late 80s the company was re-incorporated (renamed) for short period as J. & W. Chester/Edition Wilhelm Hansen London Ltd before a further subsequent name change / merger into Chester Music Ltd. on the 15th Apr 1992.
