Ikra Club
Настоящее имя: Ikra Club
IKRA Club* was a Russian concert venue and music club, opened from March 2006 till Jan 2011, and located in Gogol's Moscow Dramatic Theatre building. Igor Tonkikh was the club's director and general manager. The "IKRA Club" had three concert halls, configurable for standing or seating audiences, and with a total capacity of 50-100, 100-200, and 600-700 people. The club also hosted numerous weekly DJ party series, such as "ElectroШик," which released a few promotional DJ mixes co-branded by Ikra.
In addition to a wide range of Russian artists, IKRA Club hosted multiple notable international musicians and bands throughout its almost 5yr history, such as 65daysofstatic, Bohren & Der Club Of Gore, Brazzaville, Coldcut, DJ Krush, DJ Vadim, Front Line Assembly, George Duke, Goldie, Kid Koala, Laibach, LTJ Bukem, Mira Calix, Plaid, Stanley Clarke, Ulver, Amon Tobin, Isis (6), Michael Gira, and Róisín Murphy. The Current 93's frontman and founder David Tibet favored this venue among other Moscow clubs, and specifically asked his Russian promoters to book "Ikra" for C93, as well as Nurse With Wound and Psychic TV in Moscow.
* Even though the club's title was Latinized in Russia, officially known as Клуб IKRA, the word "ikra," or "икра,", means "caviar" in the Russian language.
