Sea Lion Record

Singapore/Malaysian label active 1967-1971. The first series in 1967 was an SL-800 series in which only a few EP releases are known. These were manufactured by King Musical Ind. Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia. This was followed by an SL-7700 series which included both EPs & LPs. This longer lasting series seems to have initially been produced in Singapore in 1969 and apparently had some connection with the Olympic label as both were produced by the Times Record Co. Some Sea Lion Record sleeves with early numbers in the SL-7700 series also show the Olympic logo. The Malaysian agent was Listen Agency, Kuala Lumpur. Later releases in the SL-7700 series were produced by by Super Lucky Record Trading Co., 87 Jalan Storey, Johore Bahru. However, this name is frequently printed incorrectly on the record sleeves. For example, SL 7707 shows SUPPER LUCKY RECORD TRADING CO. while SL 7710 shows UPPER LUCKY RECORD TRADING CO. (!) Sole agent in Singapore was Times Record Co. The SL-7700 series ran from SL-7701 up to at least SL-7725 and continued on the Lucky and SLR labels up to at least SL-7757. The last Sea Lion Record series used a GES prefix and was produced by the Listen Agency, Kuala Lumpur and the Singapore sole agent was once again the Times Record Co. This series had about 14 EP releases during 1970-1971.
