Brentwood Music, Inc.

Christian concept or series label formed in 1981 and closed in 2001. Brentwood Music, Inc. was formed in 1981 by Jim Van Hook. Within a few years, it was a multi-million dollar corporation. In 1994, the Zomba Group of Companies purchased Brentwood. Having acquired various interests in the Christian market, Zomba created the Provident Music Group to collect those interests. Brentwood remained a part of the Provident Label Group from 1997 until 2001 when Zomba dissolved the label in an effort to streamline their Christian assets. Brentwood Records’ concept recordings include the Smoky Mountain Series, the Besides Still Waters series featuring the Don Marsh Orchestra with the Panpipes, and the America's 25 series. Former sublabels: Essential Records (3) - Formed in 1992 and acquired by Brentwood Music Inc. in 1993. It remained there until Brentwood was closed in 2001. Essential was moved directly under Provident Label Group. NOTE: Brentwood Records and Brentwood Music are both brands used by Brentwood Music, Inc.
