British label for the publishing company. They were originally a family firm of printers and began to publish bird books early in the 20th century. Noted ornithologist, author, publisher and founding editor (in 1907) of the magazine British Birds, Harry Forbes Witherby worked for the business. Also printed as H. F. & G. Witherby, Ltd.
