Dodge is an American automotive brand based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and established in 1914 as "Dodge Brothers." In 1928, Chrysler Corporation purchased the Dodge company. Since 2021, its a division of Stellantis N.V., the fifth-largest car manufacturer in the world (and the European second-largest) after General Motors, Hyundai, Volkswagen, and Toyota.
Dodge changed ownership and was restructured many times throughout its history, including a merger with Daimler-Benz AG between 1998 and 2007 (to form DaimlerChrysler AG), a 2009 US government bailout and subsequent Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In 2014, FIAT merged with Chrysler Group into the new conglomerate, FCA US (for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles). Finally, FCA merged with PSA Group (former PSA Peugeot Citroën) in 2021 to form "Stellantis." Headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, this corporation gathered several prominent car brands besides Dodge, including Chrysler, Lancia, Opel, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Jeep, and Maserati.
