Rock In Opposition Festival, Carmaux

This Rock In Opposition festival, also refered to as the RIO or R.I.O. festival, is the "reunion" which started in Carmaux, France in April 2007, organised by Michel Besset, with the ambition to revive the spirit and objective of the original "Rock in Opposition" Festival from 1978 that was organised by Chris Cutler and Henry Cow and took place in London, March 12, 1978, with the original bands adhering to this "movement" being [a282968], Etron Fou Leloublan, Samla Mammas Manna, Stormy Six and [a179966]. The use of the name "Rock in Opposition" for the new Carmaux festival was sanctionned by Chris Cutler. Since its second edition in September 2009 it has been an annual event each September until its final edition which was held exceptionally in May 2019 and deported in Bourgoin Jallieu.
