Trente Oiseaux

trente oiseaux was founded by Bernhard Günter in November 1995 in order to release both his own work and groundbreaking work by artists like Francisco Lopez, Steve Roden, Reynols, Matt Shoemaker, Richard Chartier, Japanese Duo Kuwayama/Kijima, Tomas Phillips, and Keith Berry.Over the years, the label built a solid reputation among listeners of contemporary electro-acoustic and improvised music.. In spite of a world wide net of distributors and good reviews in numerous publications, it wasn't, however, as successful economically. So when it became clear that sales weren't covering the cost any longer, the label stopped releasing CDs by the end of 2005 after a short period of releasing CDRs. Bernhard reluctantly decided to sell out the remaining stock of CDs and call it a day for trente oiseaux. Now, trente oiseaux exists as a web label distributing music by download, exclusively, with the first web releases being some of Günter's albums no longer available on CD and his first download only album. Simon Whetham's 'Understory' was trente oiseaux's first new web album by someone other than Günter. On 14 July 2009 trente oiseaux released 'Tori no Kaigi', a compilation showcasing electroacoustic and improvised music by artists from all over the world and continues to release new music as a netlabel.
