Kurt Lindgren

Swedish bassist, composer, arranger and educator, born June 10, 1937 in Enskede in Stockholm, died in a car accident March 27, 1989. He studied double bass at the Royal Academy of Music 1959-64 and he also studied composition with Josef Briné who held courses under the auspices of the Musicians' Association. But he continued to play with various groups, in 1959 he was part of Anders Burman's septet with, among others, Leppe Sundevall on trumpet and Allan Lundström on tenor sax, and the following year he played with tenor Bertil Löfdahl's quintet. For a while he also played with Åke Persson's sextet together with Benny Bailey trumpet, Sahib Shihab sax, Ingemar Westerberg piano and "Röjarn" Nyberg drums.
